All the pieces are falling into place for a massive event in downtown Prince Albert on June 14th. Central Avenue will be filled with activity and plenty of free family fun. There will be music throughout the day with two stages providing live local and provincial artists. The first stage is located at Memorial Square and closing the show at 5pm is Prince Albert’s own Leot Hanson from The Sheepdogs fame. He is performing with the Velvet Threads and will be sure to put on a great show.

The second stage is located at 13th Street West. The Sunset Country Music Festival organizer, Mercy Glover, and up and coming country artist, Josh Stumpf, has brought a couple of performers from the Sunset Country Music Festival show. Street Fair is the place to purchase your advance tickets at the sweet deal of $20.00. Proceeds will go towards the River Valley Resilience Retreat.

The Gateway Mall Train is back and being operated by the Prince Albert Optimist Club situated at 14th Street and Central. The Talbot Acres Petting Zoo is located along River Street East. They have a great selection of animals as well as pony rides for the kids.

Vendors, volunteers, and sponsors have all signed on for the big event, and the 20th Anniversary has been able to fill 200 spaces along Central Avenue. Downtown businesses, non-profit organizations and vendors old and new will be providing merchandise, information and fun activities lining up along both sides of the avenue.

Street Fair is the largest single day event in our Downtown,” Trusty said. “We have grown over the years through the hard work of my predecessors. I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge previous Executive Directors for the commitment to this event. Jayne Remenda, James Banman, Bob Gill, Rick Orr and Carolyn Carleton have all added different elements and vision to this event. This is my fourth year organizing Street Fair and cannot thank the Board of Directors for their support.”

A new addition to Street Fair this year is Art Alley located along 10th Street East. Live art demonstrations of different mediums will be showcased. The

Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub is back and new to 10th Street is the Vintage Power Museum.

“The positive energy of Street Fair is important for our city,” said Trusty. “It helps to create family memories and during the stress of our current forest fire situation, we hope this can help to alleviate, even for a short time, the stress of our northern neighbours. It’s an opportunity for us to come together as a community, see old friends and enjoy the multicultural elements this event brings to our citizens.”

The day will open up with a procession starting at 14th Street. The Highlanders Pipes and Drums will kick off the big day.

Trusty added the children’s activities are free and very much family oriented with free bus service provided by the City of Prince Albert. She reminds people to grab your supper meal and take in the closing acts as both stages will be showcasing Prince Albert talent in Leot Hanson and Josh Stumpf.
